DMM, Inc. Selects Ironsides APT to Provide Document Integrity Across Print and Fulfillment Operations

Leading document solutions company in North America adopts automated production tracking software to eliminate inserting errors and meet strict document compliance guidelines.

Westford, MA. November 28, 2017. – Ironsides Technology, a leading provider of automated production tracking software for the printing, mailing, fulfillment, and packaging industries, today announced that DMM, Inc., a leading document solutions company headquartered in Maine, has selected Ironsides APT™ (Automated Production Tracking) software to ensure 100 percent document integrity of printed communications across multiple production lines, equipment and locations.

“More than ninety percent of the work we produce is mission critical communications for healthcare, insurance or financial services customers that requires strict adherence to regulatory and compliance guidelines,” said John V. Cloutier, CEO and President of DMM, Inc. “In today’s market, anything less than 100 percent end-to-end document integrity puts our business and our customers at risk. Our investment in Ironsides APT will allow us to operate more efficiently and provide our customers with the assurance that all of their jobs have been assembled correctly and are fully compliant with industry regulations. We see this as a competitive differentiator that will help us retain, as well as, win new business.”

DMM’s automated mail insertion process utilizes a combination of 2D and Intelligent Mail Barcodes (IMB) to uniquely identify customer documents. The company plans to incorporate Ironsides APT software and camera technology into their workflow to eliminate any possible insertion errors and provide full document integrity for each individual mail piece, including implementation of an automated reprint process. DMM will install Ironsides APT and cameras on nine inserters and three hand fulfillment stations. This enables DMM to extend the life of its existing equipment and focus on its recent acquisition of Canon Océ VarioPrint i300 inkjet color digital press without having to incur additional capital expenditures.

“It was clear from the start that Ironsides Technology was the best partner for DMM – the team truly understands our market, business and challenges,” Cloutier continued. “The Ironsides APT solution is unique in that it verifies output integrity, which is what our customers want. Plus, Ironsides APT offers robust real-time reporting and data analytics to help with job tracking and costing. This will allow us to understand our throughput per line so we can improve processes, reduce costs and add to our profitability.”

“We are excited to work with DMM and help them meet 100 percent distribution compliance,” said Bill Riley, President of Ironsides Technology. “In the highly competitive print service provider market, it’s a pleasure to work with companies like DMM who are embracing the benefits of inkjet technology and output management systems like Ironsides APT in order to meet demanding customer requirements and grow their business. We look forward to helping DMM get the most out of their investment in Ironsides APT.”

News & Events

Leading lettershop services provider for the healthcare industry minimizes risk and improves operations by tracking each print job down to the page level, eliminating errors caused by double stuffing, damaged mail pieces or envelopes.

Westford, MA. October 17, 2017. –  Ironsides Technology, a leading provider of automated production tracking software for the printing, mailing, fulfillment, and packaging industries, announced that Nashville-based LetterLogic has implemented Ironsides APT™ (Automated Production Tracking) software. As a leading multi-channel patient payment provider for more than 2,000 healthcare organizations, LetterLogic designs, fulfills, and delivers patient-friendly healthcare statements around the country. Incorporating Ironsides APT has allowed LetterLogic to eliminate any inserter errors which is especially critical when handling patient health information (PHI).

“We handle patient communications, including payment information, for our healthcare customers and accuracy and data security are critical,” said Elizabeth Geist, President, LetterLogic. “We needed an automated solution to validate that the right document was in the right envelope and that we were not wasting resources or time. With Ironsides APT, we can track down to the page level and eliminate any risk of data exposure. We now have zero problems with double stuffing, damaged mail pieces or envelopes or other insert errors – even on our non-automated inserters.”

Ironsides APT software is designed to help printers and document processing companies such as LetterLogic meet strict customer and regulatory requirements. It provides a central dashboard for real-time data ensuring that each job meets customer SLAs and is produced efficiently and on time. Using the Ironsides APT Control and Command dashboard, LetterLogic can track activity down to the piece level and immediately catch and correct any errors that might occur. The system also allows LetterLogic to track performance over time.

The company selected Ironsides APT for its robust functionality, flexibility and strong reputation for post sales service and support. Ironsides APT’s open architecture provides LetterLogic the flexibility to use existing inserters, workflows and allows greater choices with ancillary equipment such as cameras. As LetterLogic looks to add new inserters or replace aging equipment, Ironsides APT can be easily extended to new devices, making it highly scalable to grow with LetterLogic.

“Ironsides truly looks out for its customers and their support team has been exceptional in responding to any requests,” continued Geist. “We needed a partner who understood what we were doing and would adapt to our growth. Ironsides has done just that. We are now able to better manage our risk, as well as improve management of our materials significantly reducing much of the untracked waste we were experiencing.”

“Ironsides commitment to our customers is the reason why so many trust us to deliver automated production tracking solutions that streamline business processes, reduce costs, improve margins and manage risk more effectively,” said Bill Riley, President of Ironsides Technology. “With Ironsides APT, LetterLogic is able to provide piece level integrity for every job so that their customers can feel confident that any printed communications are assembled correctly, accounted for and are fully compliant with all major healthcare rules and regulations.”

Ironsides Technology Previews Automated Order and Cost Tracking Software at PRINT17

In the Canon booth, Ironsides showcases how the Nor’Star business process management suite helps print and mailing companies track the true costs of each print job.

Westford, MA. September 6, 2017. –  Ironsides Technology, a leading provider of automated production tracking software for the printing, mailing, fulfillment, and packaging industries, will preview its Nor’Star business process management suite in the Canon booth #1213 at PRINT17 September 10-14 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Building on the success of Ironsides APT™ (Automated Production Tracking) software, Nor’Star will offer automated order tracking and cost analytics to help print and mailing companies track the true costs of each print job to the piece level to optimize production performance.

“Today’s printers are running more jobs than ever and it is physically impossible to manually track the true cost of each item,” said Bill Riley, President of Ironsides Technology. “Front end planning systems help but are unable to track the actual cost of each job through the entire production print workflow from prepress to print production to bindery to inserting to finish bookmaking. Nor’Star provides the missing link by delivering an automated data collection solution allowing commercial print and mailing companies to connect valuable production and order tracking data with order and cost analytics.”

At PRINT17 attendees will see a technology preview of Ironsides Nor’Star that incorporates Ironsides APT with order tracking and cost analytics software modules that help customers track jobs before print as well as compare job estimates against the cost of each job. Production print operators can learn how Nor’Star order tracking software provides end-to-end traceability of individual items through the entire workflow process. Nor’Star cost analytics provides detailed reports on production costing per job, machine and department (including labor) for document production order related materials.

“By analyzing estimation, planning and actual data with Ironsides unique ability to track individual pieces through the entire workflow process, companies can immediately see how much each job costs to produce and adjust future estimates accordingly,” added Riley. “Nor’Star will allow companies to identify which types of jobs, customers or even shifts are more efficient and profitable. Printers can make more informed decisions when investing in new inkjet print applications to help drive business growth and better serve customers.”

The Ironsides APT is a proven software that can help printers meet strict customer and regulatory requirements while providing a central dashboard for real-time data to ensure each job meets customer SLAs and is produced efficiently and on time.

“Over the past six years we have had a strong partnership with Ironsides APT for piece level tracking and we are excited to have them showcasing the upcoming Nor’Star Suite in our booth at PRINT17,” said Ed Jansen, vice president of Professional Services, Canon Solutions America, Inc.  “Ironsides Nor’Star offers customers the ability to track jobs through the production cycle to help ensure industry compliance. This ability to confidently assure 100% delivery and the added insights into our customers’ business operations and adds value to their investment in Canon production solutions.”
